Merrell Women's Zion Waterproof Hiking Shoes - Lightweight & Durable for Outdoor Adventures, Trail Running & Backpacking

I struggled with the sizing of this shoe as had read conflicting reviews about how it fit. I am always between a 6 and 6.5 in shoes, depending on brand. Based on comments that it ran large, I ordered the 6 and it was too small. Now have the 6.5 and it fits really well. I do like to wear thick socks when I hike (Therlo) so if you don't wear thick socks they might run big. Only other comment on sizing is that the toe box does seem to run narrow. Not an issue for me but if you have a wider toe area they might not be ideal. They are sturdy but still pretty comfortable and attractive. Have only worn them around the neighborhood so not sure yet how they will perform on rocky terrain but the grip seems strong....not these so much. Normally Merrells have a wider toe box and narrower heel - ie actually shaped like a woman's foot instead of just a smaller man's shoe. Not these. The heel is loose and the toe box is tight. Also, do NOT wear in any kind of wet weather! Even after spraying them with a good water-proofer, when I got caught in a sudden thunder storm a couple weeks ago, it took DAYS for the completely sogged shoes to dry out.These shoes are good for walking on any terrain. They are also warm, just right for the winter months. These shoes keep the foot well stabilized, with just enough arch support and overall support. I have several Merrell's and will continue to buy that brand. However, unlike some of my others, I find I have to tighten the shoe laces at least once during any walk I take.I've worn these three times now and here are my thoughts so far. 1) Others noted your heel can slip from the back. I solved this by putting gel insert on the inside sole. That made the shoe snugger. 2) They are definitely warm and support your feet well. I'm hoping the "stiff" feel will give a little as I break them in. 3) Unanticipated problem---mud totally cakes in the grooves on the sole of the shoe. Today I found myself scraping the bottom with a stick trying to loosen the gunk up. My husband went on the same hike with his Merrell shoes and didn't have the same problem. I had to leave them in the garage when i got home.I normally wear hiking boots for ankle support, but wanted to try hiking shoes. I really love these! I've only day hiked in them so far, but they were plenty supportive and I feel more nimble compared to boots. Great quality and value for money (as always, from Merrell).A good hiking shoe. I have no complaints, they're comfortable and fit well.These shoes are very comfortable, just to wear around and while hiking. Nice looking!This shoes fits perfectly and is very duarable!The shoes I got are the ones in the picture which are Merrell Navy Zion runners , NOT THE ONES IN YOUR RIGHT UP OR PICTURE. The Zion womens shoes I got are great very comfortable and nice looking. Also good quality and good for winter, a little bit thicker through to keep your feet warm. I must add 3 times now I have gone to order shoes which say womens but when I put them into the cart they came up as mens shoes with the wrong write up. Someone has really got some of these shoes messed up. You may want to look into this because I couldn't order them not knowing what I was getting. ThanksLove these shoes. I have issues buying shoes with the fit. But when I tried these shoes on they felt like slippers. The first day of wearing for 8 hours my feet felt great no aches or pains. Went to order again but they were sold out of my size. Will certainly order again.Best pair of hiking shoes tried yet. Feels great on trails, good traction and doesnt hurt for day long activities.Par contre le soulier Merrell est de très bonne qualité.
