A basic slip on, lightweight, walking shoe. Mesh, lined with foam and mesh (I suspect this would make them quite a bit less durable than leather). Fit and feel--average Drew. The gotcha is that they are cut very high over the arch, so very difficult to get on without both using a shoehorn and grabbing on the front loop with your OTHER hand. Plus, if you have any issues with ankle swelling, they might very well rub or dig in. Glad I tried them on at the end of the day. Bottom line, they might work for you or not. When we decided to finally take the kids on vacation to Florida's popular theme parks. I wanted to make sure I had a shoe that was comfortable, reputable, synthetic (I'm vegan), and was designed for someone with some minor orthopedic needs. In the past I had suffered from a bout of plantar fasciitis which took 11 months to recover from, so I have always been sensitive to how my shoes fit. These shoes appeared to fit the bill, the right size and width, a nice look, and even at a price point well over $100 I was willing to go for it. When they arrived I practiced due diligence and walked around the house with the tags on for a couple of days, they felt very comfortable and light, I was very excited. Fast forward to our trip...My first real world test was to wear them on our travel day. At first my feet felt fine, but over the hours of walking and standing at the airports I began to feel pain in my toes and in my right heel. I was slightly alarmed, and definitely in denial, so I ignored it assuming that maybe the sneakers had a break-in period. The next day we hit the parks. When I put them on in the morning everything seemed fine again. After about 2 hours I started feeling those pains sneaking up on me like a cat after a cricket. By the end of the day I had pushed my heels out of the back of the shoe and was trying, when I could, to walk on my toes, It was a relief to take them off at the hotel room, and when I lined them up along-side my husband's and kids non-Drew footwear I new that I was in for a long week and a half.Over the next 10 days I committed myself to the pain and 9-12 hours of walking a day I knew was coming. The plantar fasciitis came back with a vengeance, rendering me a crabby, limping mess whose compromised strides held back my energetic Nike-wearing family. I considered leaving the park and buying some new sneakers, but I could not justify spending more money. When you sign your life over to Disney they make sure you have no money to spend on anything outside the park anyway. So what did I do? I wished upon a star to get the most out of that purchase.I made it home and within a couple of days in my $20 Saucony sneakers, I was much better and was kicking myself for the choice I made. Since returning, I made one final attempt to wear the Drews. That day was no different than I expected. Now they sit starring at me from the rack: they know I can't bring myself to throw them out because of how much they cost, they know I will never wear them again, and I won't donate them to someone just to put that person through the hell I experienced. It's cruel. These shoes are not for me. I put them through their paces and they put me through the wringer. I'd love to send them back to Drew with teeth painted in white across the toes, and a black nail painted on the right heel. just to make myself feel better, but I won't. If you do buy these, please test them out with some more rigorous in-house tactics like stairs...or a treadmill.Bought for my daughter because of her feet. She says she can stand for an hour before her feet begin to hurt. The shoe has a thick, protective sole for concrete, a hardened toe end, and a slightly stretchy body. The small, comfortable heel is helpful. Please note- they grass stain easily. I used a Wet One immediately, so no harm this time.My exact size, I can't believe it! Great look, great feel! And they do slip on with ease. So nice.... I just got some other Drew shoes recently, and I was blown away by them as well. I definitely have a new favorite brand. I cannot rave enough.I ordered too big. But my left for hammer toe stills hit the top even without the extra sole cushion. I gave a problem.Drew quality is the best. These shoes fit well on my problem feet so this is a big winMy daughter told me they are the like little pillows on her feet. She wears them all the time she told me the are so comfortable she'd even wear them to sleep. Very well made.
