Ok, given the numerous Chaco reviews I have heard personally, I finally had to buy some. Yes, for the river rat who likes to hike, is out for days at a time, hikes in the same shoes as one boats and appreciates dry shoes etc - they are awesome, but not comfortable, not affordable or light weight. Given my limited budget, I like something that meets all my needs. And I would love one that we could boat and hike in. Chacos will take you on a nice day hike, but I dare say your heels and toes would be sore at the end of the day and hopefully there are no boulders in sight that would take out your toes. I might have 2-3 overnights on a kayak a year, but want something comfortable to slip in most of the time at camp. Chacos are heavier, not as comfortable and only are really right for the person who can afford to use them all of the time e.g. boaters etc. However, I will give them the props that they dry very well. Ok - do I bring boots on my boating trips? No. Chacos are the next best thing -- I guess. But they still don't meet your needs. I was in an overnight in Yellowstone yakaying - it was nice in that circumstance to have dry shoes the next morning when everything else was wet. But do I kayak in Yellowstone more than once a year? No. So in that case, I appreciated it - but in others, a good flip flop will do. Comfort is the main goal. I carry both but I would like to carry light (w/o Chacos).I think this pair of shoes will last me until I die !!I quit buying Reef because the area for my toes was like chopped off on the rightleaving my toes hanging off the edge. I guess the Chinese have feet like that.these have a full to square but not quite toe box.the toe strap is a tiny bit back so maybe that's it.there is adequate arch support which I need.the suede is good quality. they were a bit tight at first.but leather will stretch out.the sole is good and I feel comfortable walking throughwet pavement that I won't slip and fall.very pleased with my purchaseI already bought another pair!!they already did on my black pair and fit perfect. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. I live in South Florida and have been wearing nothing but Chacos year round for years. I bought these because the Chaco Flips that I've had for the last 3-4 years are no longer being made. What a disappointment! These shoes are nothing like any of my other Chacos I've worn in the past. These have a soft mushy sole like Crocs. The reason I started wearing Chacos is due to the firm sole and great arch support. These don't offer either.Furthermore, the leather part that goes across the foot is so tight, I almost couldn't get my foot into the shoe. I'm so glad I didn't pay full price. I also ordered another pair in a different style. Fingers crossed on that pair. I guess I need to baby my other Chacos and hope that things change for the better before I need to replace them. If you are looking for the chaco arch support and firm support of shoes past, these are not for you.Odd fit for me, the toe thong is too far back in my opinion. Leaves sandal at the end past my toes that tend to trip me up at times. They were very tight at first and had to wear them wet a couple of times to stretch it slightly to be comfortable. Not my favorite chacos I've bought. My favorites! I have the same shoe in black. So happy to get it in brown. Fits like it was made for my foot. Just enough arch support for my comfort. Would love to have these in some bright colors!Still a fine shoe, but wish they were made in USA.Same comfort as the regular Chaco sandals!Very comfortable!
