Product Description

The gt-ds is a hybrid model based on the original design of the gt-ii that launched in 1986. The upper’s construction stays relatively true to its traditional mold, while it utilizes combined componentry of the gel-ds trainer, featuring visible gel in the midsole. In 1949, Mr. Kihachiro Onitsuka began his athletic footwear company (Onitsuka Co., Ltd.) by manufacturing basketball shoes out of his living room in Kobe, Japan. He chose the name ASICS for his company in 1977, based on a famous Latin phrase "Anima Sana In Corpore Sano," which, when translated, expresses the ancient ideal of "A Sound Mind in a Sound Body." Taking the acronym of this phrase, ASICS was founded on the belief that the best way to create a healthy and happy lifestyle is to promote total health and fitness. Today, ASICS offers a full line of performance-driven athletic shoes and technical active sports apparel and accessories dedicated to bringing harmony to the body and soul.

I normally wear a 10.5 shoe, but after reading the comments about these shoes, I decided to order an 11. I am glad I did, because they still fit just a tad tight -- not to the point where they were uncomfortable, but I could feel my toes definitely hitting the end of the shoe.Other than the strange plastic on either side of the shoes - which I expect will eventually shred the shoelaces after tightening them a number of times - I really liked the them.
